Natural Markings

A cow’s life is susceptible to the rigors of outdoor pasture living. Natural beauty is often defined by natural markings. Many of the characteristics are natural aging processes all living things experience such as neck wrinkles, stretch marks, and healed scars.

Accordion Neck Wrinkles: During grazing, the lifting and bending of the head and neck creates natural wrinkles.

Backbone Impressions: The skin over the backbone has a different appearance due to the tightness of the grain structure.

Healed Scratches: Much like human scars, cows have defining marks of their environment.

Natural Hair Follicles: Removal of hair in the tanning process can cause small follicle openings.

Slight Skin Rashes: Due to their exposure to the elements, cows are subject to disease and skin rashes.

Calving Stretch Marks: Stretching the skin to accommodate the birthing process, these markings show nature at its best.
